Redevelopment Projects

Up one level

The Borough, the Middlesex County Improvement Authority (MCIA), the New Jersey Institute of Technology and the redeveloper have been working together in partnership to understand environmental issues in the Gateway Focus Area in the Lincoln Boulevard Rehabilitation Area. The Gateway Area is located at 146 and 150 Lincoln Boulevard which were formerly known as Springfield Steel Drum and Chemray. The next phase of work will investigate environmental contamination at the Springfield Drum property. The work is being funded by a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency to the MCIA. The investigation will survey the geophysical nature of the property and determine the extent of the contamination. Then a plan will be developed for remediating the property. The work will be conducted by CME Associates of Parlin and should be completed in about two months. For questions about the investigation, contact Denise Nickel at the MCIA at 609-655-5141.
